About the Department

The Department of Geography established in 1962 at University Rajasthan College, Jaipur for undergraduate level under Arts Faculty. Thereafter, from 1974 and 1987 undergraduate teaching began in Science faculty in University Maharaja's College and in Science/Arts Faculty at University Maharani College respectively. The Post Graduate Department was established in 1967. The faculty is also actively engaged in research programmes. The Post Graduate Department later shifted to the University campus in 2002.

Infrastructural Facilities

The Department of Geography has a well equipped Remote Sensing and Geographical Information System laboratory named as (Late) Shri Rajesh Pilot Memorial Laboratory. It has been established under the FIST program of the Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, New Delhi. Edusat program is being run in the Department relayed by IIRS, Dehradun. Automatic Weather Station (AWS) has also been installed in Department since 2012.
